RQ9: Escape has arrived!

Hello friends! I am so happy to announce the arrival of Issue 9: Escape. This is the first issue in Volume 3 and it’s a beauty. Inside you’ll find a collection of stories revolving around the idea of an escape— we’ve got a Q&A with Bonnie Slotnick of Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks in New York City (one of my favorite NYC escapes), a story about learning to enjoy the sound of silence in Italy, and the ultimate adventure, crabbing in Louisiana. That’s just a few of the treasures inside. In addition to the awesome stories and recipes, this issue boasts 30% more pages and full color in a third of the magazine! It’s been a big push, but honestly, I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out. As always, thank you for your support!

In honor of it’s arrival, I’m offering a discount on Volume 3. Just use the code WOOHOORQ at checkout and receive 15% off your order.

RQ9: Sneak Peek

I’ve been cooking all sorts of good stuff for RQ9: Escape. This issue has stories that are going to have you scheming for your great escape and recipes that will leave your mouth watering, but what I’m really excited about is our growth. Since it’s start in 2009, Remedy has been a 2-color, 48-page publication, a format inspired by my love of vintage cookbooks. But it’s time to grow, so the next issue will be a third larger—we’ve added 16 more pages to each issue and as the sneak peek above shows, those pages will be in full color! Whoa! Now, just to be clear, the majority of Remedy Quarterly will still be printed using two-colors—a challenge I take on with pride—but now we’ll have a special color section in the middle of each issue that will feature full-color photography and illustrations.

RQ9: Escape is in editing now and is scheduled to be delivered to our door the first week of May. I’m so jazzed to share it with you!

Cheers!
Kelly

RQ9: Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks

One of my favorite things about creating a magazine about food memories is the people I get to meet—whether online or in person. For our upcoming issue, I had the honor of chatting with Bonnie Slotnick of Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks in Greenwich Village. With a collection of over 4000 vintage cookbooks, menus and ephemera, it’s a must-visit for any food lover. Look for Bonnie’s interview in Issue 9: Escape, due out in May.

Remedy at the New York Public Library

When Remedy Quarterly made it’s debut back in 2009, one of our inaugural orders was from a librarian at the New York Public Library. We were thrilled to say the least! Since then we’ve talked about going to visit our little magazine, but it wasn’t until this past weekend—over two years later—that we finally made the trip to one of the most amazing libraries we’ve ever seen.

Just walking up the steps and into the grand foyer, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time and into a magical place. Among the library’s many treasures, you’ll find the first Gutenberg Bible brought to the Americas, a copy of the Declaration of Independence, the original stuffed animals that inspired the Winnie the Poog series, a handwritten letter from Picasso, oh and Remedy Quarterly! It was an incredible visit full of discovery—we’re just sad we didn’t do it sooner! If you’re in New York City (or are planning a trip) and haven’t been, it’s a must see (and it’s free!).
